Maryanne Kasina

Program Officer

Maryann is 25 years born and raised in Kayole, and a single mother of one boy aged 3 years. She is a survivor of Gender Based Violence, and has had moments where she felt everything had failed, got frustrated, and was desperate and a victim of fate and there was nothing she could do to change the turn of events in her life.

Maryanne has volunteered with Plan International program, safer cities for girls that allowed her to grow and gain confidence and became more assertive in addressing women and girls╩╝ rights. She has a rich experience on facilitating Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights in schools and community.

Maryanne is passionate in advocating for safe spaces for both boys and girls and the most marginalized in the community. She is the founder of Our Young Generation, Our Future that advocates on menstrual decency and access to sanitary towels. She is motivated to fight for girls and women due to patriarchal systems that have exposed her to witness injustices and violations that happen to girls and women every day in the community. Maryann steps in to challenge the systems for a safer space for women and girls to thrive in.
