Nyota Hallima Ang’uria

Hallima Nyota is a young female leader who is passionate about young women empowerment, reproductive health,  peace and security, and meaningful youth engagement. She is Young Woman Mediation Ambassador by the  International Centre for Peace, Human Rights and Development- IPHRD- Africa; championing the role of  young women in peace building and conflict resolution across the country. She has Bachelor’s degree in  Information Technology. Nyota also possess certificate in, Digital Journalism, Youth Peace and Security,  Freedom of Religion and Belief, Gender and Sexual and Reproductive Health101, Organization leadership,  Development and communication, Monitoring and Evaluation with a vast experience in community  development. 

Her previous roles and experiences have majorly been in building partnerships and transformational  collaborations aimed at advocating for youth inclusion, education financing advocacy, violent extremism  prevention, contributions to policy change as well as building capacities of communities and social movements to implement programs and managing projects from inception.  

Hallima’s passion for promoting education of the girl child saw her work alongside the county gender and  education departments in the oversight of the implementation of return to school policy. The campaign was  aimed at giving young girls who got pregnant while in school/ teenage mothers, girls at risk of Gender Based  Violence and early marriages from Kakamega Kenya a second chance for them to pursue their education goals. She continuously volunteered in rescuing girls from harmful cultural practices like early marriages, teenage  pregnancies and child abuse and building partnerships with organizations to offer them opportunities across  various Sub-counties in Kakamega.
